Ok, so i'm going to be real right now. At first, I was some what of a fan of Aubrey "Drake" Graham. Correction, his music was AIGHT (quote me on it). I used to watch Degrassi whenever it was on and saw the acting side of this new phenom/fad. Im not gunna front, the show was live especially all the shit leading up to when wheelchair Jimmy earned his name. When his mixtapes started dropping I always cop'd them just to see what was good and to see if his flow was improving. It was alright. You know that music when its live and the rhymes are bananas that you make a skrew face like Hov when he just heard a new beat. I only had that face ONCE, with his line, "Are any of y'all into girls like I am les-bi-honest". Seriously, that shit was crazy on any level, and would get me gas'd to approach a girl and ask the same question (probably on like 5 drinks tho). But that's neither here nor there. I give him credit, cause he must have some talent impressing Mr. Carter (no Jay-Z) and getting him to sign Drake to Young Money/Cash Money Records. Honestly man? Wayne signed Jae Millz. Im not going to go off on Millz cause that "No, No, No" joint was the truth, but it really doesn't take much to impress this guy. He has kids on his label like he is starting hip-hop Chuck-E-Cheese. But again that's neither here nor there.
So if you haven't realized, here is my problem with Drake. One, I honestly think this kid is a fad. Period. I love it how he goes on the 09' BET Awards, where barely any awards were given out by the way, and Queen Latifah, Big Tiggah (I thought Tig would have more sense) and Jamie Foxx boost this kid, saying how they haven't heard someone with such lyrical content and sounding so good and have only a mixtape out with no major release.
knowledge yourself here
So, your telling me that this kid is the best that's out there just because what he says sounds good and it must be good cause all he has out is a mixtape and oh shit! he was on tv? Please. He reminds me of a light skin Ray-J minus the sextape (but there is always time for that).
Next problem. So Far Gone, the mixtape. It had some good songs, specifically the ones with Trey Songz and the track with the dilla production, other than that, its a one-above par tape. So this great businessman realised, hey, since my mixtape was such a hit and been out for about a year and some change, lets RE-RELEASE it and while we are at it CHARGE MONEY. Hmm. I hope you can do the math and compare $9.99 to, well i dunno...FREE. And now here is the ball buster. The mixtape, has 17 tracks. The retail version, has only 7 (due to sample clearances). Are you laughing out loud like I am? SEVEN? SEVEN? SEVEN? And he has the nerve to try and sell the cd with SOME unreleased tracks. I think he needs to diddy bop his lame leg back into the degrassi wheelchair and milk some money that way, cause this is just some bull shit. Listen, I understand when you got to do your hustle to make some cash, but this shit is ridiculous. No wonder people bootleg.
And Big Tig said this is what's good for hip-hop? Shame Tig, I actually wanted Rap City back, but not anymore.
Good luck tho, to you Drake. We will try to 'Thank You Later'.
At least let me tell you why im this way, hold on.
